Child benefit is a monthly payment given by the government to people responsible for children. You more the children you take care of, the bigger the child benefit will be.
If you or your partner’s earnings are more than £50,000 annually, you will pay a “high-income child benefit charge. The more you or your partner earn above £50,000, the more the tax charge will be.
The tax charge will equal your full payment if you or your partner’s earnings are over £60,000.
No matter how much you earn, it is recommended to sign up if you or your partner take time to take care of children since child benefit provides great National Insurance Credits.
Our Child Benefits Calculator will show you how much child benefit you can receive.
